- catamarans have more functional space in salon, galley and cockpit

- natural buoyancy makes them practically unsinkable
- due to their two hull design, cats do not heel
CONS:
- they occupy more space in a marina and often cost double to moor
- same-sized catamaran is more expensive to charter than a sailing boat
- harder to tack upwind and the sailing sensation not as fun as on a sailing boat
- fuel consumption is higher than on yachts

PROS:
- sailboat of equal sleeping capacity and equipment are generally less expensive to charter than a catamaran
- in my opinion sailing boats are just a whole lot better looking
- the exhilaration of sailing on a mono hull is much more fun
- the bond with the sea and the overall experience is more genuine on sailboat
- sailing yacht slices through the water smoothly without slamming waves
- expect lower cost on fuel and port and marina fees when docking
CONS:
- less space also means less privacy on deck and below deck
- each area of a mono tends to be smaller, so you will need to adapt
- cabins can get a little tight on smaller models, not recommended for those who suffer from claustrophobia
